WCOWMA-BC is pleased to welcome Keynote Speaker – Patrick Lucey
Patrick’s academic training includes two decades in the Biology Department at the University of Victoria, with a research background in freshwater and marine science, resource management, and urban geography. Patrick was a Special Advisor to the British Columbia Government on Water Policy, the Climate Change Action Plan, and Green Cities Initiative programs. He has presented before congressional briefings in Washington DC, aimed at informing Federal US water policy and municipal infrastructure. In 2014 Mr. Lucey was invited to participate as a scientific advisor to a new watershed health R&D program initiated by the US EPA Office of Sustainable Development in Washington, DC. Patrick works with the development community and municipal government using an integrated, Engineered-ecology planning and design model to create livable neighbourhoods. In 2014, as one of eight scientists, Patrick was invited to sit on a Scientific Advisory Committee advising the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on a National Research Program to establish regulations and BMPs to create knowledge, build capacity, and forge collaboration to develop and demonstrate sustainable solutions for the reduction of nutrient pollution in US water resources.

SPM V3 Workshop and Discussion
It has been one installation year since the new SPM was released for use in the Province. This workshop will allow participants to discuss any challenges that have arisen in the field with the application of the new Standard. Frequently asked questions will be reviewed and open discussion on the application of the new Standard will be encouraged. This is an opportunity to bring your stories and questions for open discussion with your peer group.
